Michelle and Liam
On Saturday morning, our beautiful birthmother Michelle came over with her mom and sister to take some pictures with Liam. I tried not to burn the pancakes as we talk for a little while. Michelle picked out the outfit and dressed him. They turned out great! It was fun to see them. Michelle looks amazing! I think that Liam has her nose.

Our First Family Photos
While we were taking Liam's pictures, Lori Smith (our AWESOME photographer and friend) suggested we take some spur of the moment family pictures. I wasn't wearing any make up and we had Josh put on "any blue shirt" and walah! I think they turned out awesome!

On Tuesday morning we had a friend come over to take some pictures of Liam. They turned out wonderful and we can't wait to share! Yes, Liam is the handsomest little guy I've ever seen.

Doctor's Visits
Monday was a long day. We had our first check up in Springville with our pediatrician. Liam has already gained weight! He now weighs 8 lbs 2 ounces. He's such a good eater. His check up went well, but ended with his circumcision. They took Liam to another room to preform the procedure but Josh and I could still hear him cry. It was pretty tough. He wanted to cuddle for a while after. He is such a sweet little boy.
After the clinic we stopped by LDS Family Services to see our awesome case worker Margaret. She was in Hawaii when Liam was born so hadn't met him yet.
Then off to Salt Lake to Primary Children's Hospital to see the pediatric cardiologist. It took four hours to preform all the tests: chest x-ray, heart ultrasound and E.K.G. Liam is a trouper! He slept through the whole heart ultrasound (which took over an hour) which was good 'cause we were told after that, if Liam had been fussy they would have had to sedate him. So good job little Liam!
So after all these tests we still didn't get a lot of answers. Things we know:
There is a small hole b/t his right and left atrium in his heart. This is something that usually resolves itself and doesn't affect the heart much in the meantime so the cardiologist isn't too concerned about that.
Also, Liam's Superior Vena Cava (the vein the supplies all the blood to the body above the heart) takes a very different route then normal but still goes into the right compartment in the heart and is fully functional. So even though this is pretty rare, the doctor is not too concerned about this either.
However, in addition to these, the right side of his heart is enlarged. Neither of the things mentioned above would cause this so we are still trying to find the cause as this is something that could cause problems down the road.
So we are having another test tomorrow to look for the cause of his enlarged heart. Yay!
Liam also has an enlarged kidney caused, they think, by reflux of the urine into the kidney. We will be having a test tomorrow to determine that for sure. This is something that can be fixed with antibiotics or surgery. If surgery is the road that we go it is not supposed to be too big a deal.
Isn't it amazing that these problems can be detected and fixed years before any symptoms even develop?
The hope is that tomorrow we will be getting more answers. But despite everything, Liam looks GREAT! He is happy, healthy little guy. He is very calm and sweet and likes to eat and sleep. He also wakes up and looks around with his big blue eyes. He is beautiful and even though we have some things to figure out, he is absolutely perfect.
We got home at 9:30 last night and didn't sleep much last night. My two boys were pretty tired this morning.
